How to Make the Perfect Rice

Making delicious homemade basmati rice requires just three simple ingredients:

  1. Organic Basmati Rice – This ensures you are not consuming any unnecessary chemicals.
  2. Water – The essential ingredient for cooking the rice.
  3. Healthy Fat – Options like organic coconut oil, ghee, or butter are my go-to choices.

Color your rice with organic turmeric, saffron, fresh chopped herbs, cumin seeds or even peas to give it a heart-inspired vibrancy and added health benefits. I usually add something different each time depending on what else I'm making. You can even add small chopped vegetables to make it its own meal and serve with a fried egg on top!

Perfect Basmati Rice Recipe Instructions

  1. Ingredients:

    • 2 cups of organic basmati rice
    • 1 teaspoon of ghee
    • A pinch of turmeric or cumin seeds or leave out 
    • 2 cups of water
  2. Instructions:

    • Add 2 cups of organic basmati rice to a saucepan.
    • Add 1 teaspoon of ghee and a pinch of turmeric to the rice; stir to coat the rice evenly.
    • Add 2 cups of water to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
    • As soon as it starts boiling, reduce the heat to the lowest setting so that it is just simmering. Cover with a lid.
    • Cook for 12 minutes (do not lift the lid during cooking).
    • After 12 minutes, turn off the heat and set aside the saucepan.
  3. Serve:

    • Serve the rice when you are ready. Enjoy your perfectly cooked basmati rice!
